Micro-stepping for Stepper Motors

چکیده

Stepper motor performance can be compromised by noise and vibration, but an advanced high-torque micro-stepping algorithm can minimise the impact of both noise and vibration as well as increasing the resolution of the rotations. The embedded microcontroller which hosts the micro-stepper algorithm also provides additional flexibility to integrate current-limiting as well as adjusting the drive characteristics in response to changes in the dynamics of the system.

A Novel Vector Control Strategy For Bipolar Stepper Motor

The requirement of precise control in servo applications used in the digital systems led to the development of stepper motors. The precise and zero backlash operation of steppers extended its reach to various position control applications. The lack of requirement of sensors for position control applications was one of the main reasons for preferring stepper motors. Since the stepper motors were...

A New Technique for Controlling Hybrid Stepper Motor through Modified Pid Controller

Due to the development of digital control systems, hybrid stepper motors became more attractive to be used in robotics and computer numerical control machines where they have to perform high-precision positioning operations without any feedback sensor. However, at open loop control (especially at higher stepping rate), the speed response of the stepper motor suffer from large overshoot, oscilla...

Torque Ripple Minimization in Hybrid Stepper Motors Using Acceleration Measurements ?

Hybrid stepper motors (HSMs) are commonly used in many cost-sensitive industrial and consumer applications. With the use of micro-stepping techniques, they could theoretically achieve a very high resolution in positioning of mechanical loads, even without position sensors. However, it is well known that HSMs are affected by a large torque ripple, due to cogging and phase unbalancing. This, in t...

Surface Micromachined Linear Electrostatic Stepper Motor - Micro Electro Mechanical Systems, 1997. MEMS ' 97, Proceedings, IEEE., Tenth Annual International

A linear electrostatic stepper motor has been designed and fabricated in a single mask surface micromachining process.. It consists of two drive units that alternately generate a step to move the shuttle. The friction and adhesion in the clamps has been measured. A friction coefficient of 0.8 * 0.3 have been found. The adhesion in the clamp is just low enough to release the clamping shoe. Stepp...
